Assessment of the objectives of Texfuture Vietnam Spring/Summer 2023, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hong Quan – The Director of the Institute of Circular Economy (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City) stated: Textiles and garments are one of the industries that consume resources, pollute the environment, and have a high intensity of greenhouse gas emissions. With the policies of the Vietnamese Government in recent years, especially since Vietnam officially joined the WTO with the requirement for trade cooperation where environmental and sustainable development factors are considered top priorities to remove trade barriers in negotiations for environmentally friendly products and services, it is clear that textiles and garments belong to the group of products that must comply with 'green' standards in production. Accordingly, the circular economy transformation of the textile and garment industry is a crucial solution to ensure the "greening" goal of the industry.
We highly appreciate the goals set by Texfuture Vietnam Spring/Summer 2023 at this event. In particular, the exhibition provides an opportunity to discuss and propose models and potential collaborations among stakeholders to implement and commit to a circular economy transformation, aiming for the greening of Vietnam's textile and garment industry. Besides coordination among stakeholders such as the government, businesses, scientists, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other relevant parties, a shared responsibility and participation across various sectors and fields such as agriculture, industry and trade, science, technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital technology are also necessary in the process of greening Vietnam's textile and garment industry.”
